President, Madeleine Sanders PMP


Madeleine is in her second term on the Durham Highlands Chapter (DHC) Board of Directors. Madeleine has over 20 years experience in the project management field, in a variety of organizations and capacities; recently working as an IT Management Consultant in the pharma and financial sector. Madeleine started her own IT Consulting business in 2012, with a focus on Leadership, Portfolio and Project Management and Business Planning and Processes. She also is a part owner of the family business that manages commercial and residential properties within the Durham Region. Madeleine has been a PMI DHC member since 2006 and gained her PMP in 2008 after taking the DHC-PMP PREP course. She balances her business life with spending just as much time enjoying her family, volunteering and participating in various sporting events, such as football refereeing for Durham and York Region; playing broomball/ baseball/ ball hockey and coaching broomball to 5-15-year-olds. With Madeleine's wealth of knowledge and experience in project management, running 2 small businesses, establishing processes and executing these consistencies within any organization type will assist in raising DHC to the next level.


Sr. VP Business Operations, Joe Campa, PMP, PMI-PBA, PMI-RMP


Joe is currently a Lead Risk Management Specialist for Ontario Power Generation working on the Darlington Refurbishment, Canada’s largest clean energy project. Previously he was with Bruce Power working as a Risk Management Specialist on the Major Component Replacement project, part of the site’s Life Extension Program which was listed by Top 100 Projects as number one on its Top 100 Canada’s Biggest Infrastructure Projects list for 2017. Joe has spent the majority of his career in the manufacturing sector, holding positions of Vice President, General Manager, Senior Project Manager and Head of Estimating. He has been a member of this chapter since 2008 and currently holds three PMI certifications, PMP (2009), PMI-RMP (2012) and the newly added PMI-PBA (2014), as well as earning his Masters Certificate in Project Management through Atocrates, and is also a Six Sigma Green Belt. Appointed in September 2013, to complete a previous directors term, and elected in June 2014, as the Marketing and Communications Director, Joe has invested a lot of time into this chapter, redesigning communication materials, instructing the risk management module of the PMP exam prep course, and taking lead for the chapter in an Ontario wide initiative to add a project management track at DECA-U. Passion for the profession is what drives Joe, both in his professional career as well as with PMI, as he is constantly finding new ways to inspire and motivate others. When he does have some spare time, you will see Joe either on the diamond playing baseball, riding his Honda ST1300, and completing Spartan races.



VP Administration, Cheri Essner PMP, MCPM, MCBA


Cheri Essner, PMP, MCPM, MCBA®. Cheri is the author of 'Be A Courageous Agent For Change'. Cheri assists organizations in change initiatives. Cheri loves to speak to audiences about managing change in their lives and organizations. Cheri facilitated Ethics, Project Management and Leading Teams at the College Level. Cheri has worked in the community organizing the implementation of a Chronic Disease workshop. Cheri has been a consultant for many years opening her own company,


VP of Finance, Mac Wilson CAPM


Mac Wilson is a Certified Associate in Project Management with an Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Biotechnology and a Graduate Certificate in Project Management. In addition, Mac previously held the position of Student Governor on the Durham College Board of Governors (2014/2015) along with positions on various committees within the college.
After volunteering with PMI-DHC as the PM and committee chair of the 2016 PMI-DHC/Durham College Student Symposium, Mac gained interest in giving back to the PMI community.
Mac is interested in the arts and their contribution to society.

Director of Governance, Carrie Grimley PMP


Carrie Grimley is a Business Analyst at the Region of Durham’s Corporate Services Information Technology group. Carrie holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto, has her Masters Certificate in Project Management from Durham College, is a certified Business Relationship Management Professional and holds an associates certificate in IT Project Management from McMaster University and a Certificate in Strategic Analysis and Consulting from York University. Carrie has been a member of the PMI since 2007. She has held her CAPM (2007-2012) currently holds her PMP (2010-2019) Carrie has enjoyed working with her clients on a diverse range of projects including, websites, PPM, and service desk implementations. She is currently Committee Chair of the Public Sector Project Management Forum. In her spare time, Carrie enjoys volunteering at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery as an Art program gallery assistant and at the Durham Highlands Chapter as a volunteer instructor at the PMP boot camp.


Director of Membership, Delroy Trowers PMP 


Delroy Trowers holds an MBA from Florida International University (FIU) and has held his PMP credentials since 2014. Delroy has spearheaded numerous projects over the last 10 years in the areas of Distribution, Marketing, and Government Affairs. Working in the competitive FMCG industry Delroy has also managed numerous new Brands development and launching new Brands. Working with and leading international Cross-Functional Project work teams to get the job done in a highly regulated and competitive industry. As the Project Manager for the BAT, he led a Cross-Functional Project team from Costa Rica, London, and Brasil and developed and rolled out an Alternative Distribution system, which has been adopted as a formal part of the organization.

Delroy enjoys serving and volunteers on numerous committees including the 15th Year Anniversary Committee for the Durham region and as a part of the crew that helps to set up for the monthly meeting. Delroy looks forward to continuing his service to the PMI-DHC IN THE CAPACITY OF Director.

He is a sporting enthusiast and enjoys watching and playing various sports. He enjoys hanging out with friends enjoying good food and good music.


Director of Communications, Dennis Abuan PMP, P.Eng.


Dennis Abuan is a Business Analyst at the Region of Durham’s Corporate Services Information Technology group. He holds a PMP and as well a professional engineer (P.Eng) with the Province of Ontario. Dennis has managed large enterprise IT and web deployments for both the private and public sector over the past 15+ years and brings a wealth of practical experience to the chapter.

Dennis has held the PMI-DHC’s web services chair position responsible for managing our chapters’ website that encompasses its content, event information, and social media with a team of volunteers for the past 5 years. In addition, he supports the chapter’s board member’s email/collaboration tools and various chapter committee’s initiatives. Dennis is keen on expanding his role as PMI-DHC’s Director of Communications to further support the chapter’s initiatives and it’s members.

In his spare time, Dennis enjoys long distance running and triathlons as well as web/mobile development.



Director of Education, Erin Ramirez PMP


Erin is a graduate of UOIT’s B.A (Hons) Legal Studies program, and a Certified Project Manager. Since 2014, Erin has been the Senior Advisor to the VP of Operations regarding all compliance and Health and Safety matters in Canada. Further, Erin is the lead Project Manager facilitating special projects to translate broad organizational goals and direction into specific operational goals, objectives, and processes.

As a certified Project Management Professional, Erin offers over 6 years’ experience conducting audits, compliance reviews, investigations and research projects in a highly regulated environment. Most recently, her focus has been on successfully creating and implementing a PIPEDA training program, creating and implementing a National Health and Safety training program including WHMIS, and identifying and correcting gaps in our National Privacy Policy.

Aside from projects, Erin enjoys learning about and participating in real estate investing, spending time with her two young sons, and writing about herself in the third person.
