About Us

PMI-DHC is a non-profit chartered chapter of the Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI) and is dedicated to advancing the practice, science, and profession of project management in the Durham region and surrounding area.  We aim to foster project management networking amongst project management practitioners, corporations, learning institutions, and other PMI chapters. We provide opportunities for continuous learning, personal growth, professional development and mentorship through innovative community-based volunteering programs, professional networking, and community service activities.

Membership Status

  • About 2/3 of our members have their PMP certification.

 

Meetings and Educational Sessions

  • Board meetings are normally held the 1st Wednesday of the month.
  • We schedule Whitby area member meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Registration for these closes the preceding Saturday at noon (unless otherwise noted).
  • We run 1/2 or full day professional development sessions quarterly. Registration for these closes the previous Saturday at noon (unless otherwise noted).
  • PMP Exam Preparation (PMP Overdrive) sessions are held in the Spring and Fall, and are typically over 6 Saturdays.
  • We run a yearly mentoring program.
  • We are on LinkedIn and encourage our members to look there for discussion topics and sharing of ideas.

 

Chapter Background

  • The Durham Highlands Chapter was founded in 1999 through the sponsorship of Dr. W.G.M. (Bud) Lush and a small group of interested Project Management practitioners in the Durham region. 
  • On February 11th 2002, we became a 'chartered' PMI chapter.
  • In June 2013, we approved the latest version of our chapter bylaws (PDF)
