Topic: The Agile Product Owner: Unifying the Three Sides of the Talent Triangle
Subtitle: How the product vision holder balances three key skills to deliver business value.

Description:

Scrum, the leading Agile project management methodology, has several roles including the ScrumMaster, the Product Owner, and the Scrum team. Although the ScrumMaster is often compared to a traditional Project Manager role, it’s the Product Owner that combines technical project management, leadership and strategic and business management – the three sides of the Talent Triangle.

In this presentation, Angelo Firenze will discuss how the responsibilities of the Product Owner align directly with the talent triangle, including leadership and business skills that support both short-term objectives and long-term business goals for technical projects.

By attending this talk you will:

  • Get a quick refresher on the Scrum process with a specific focus on the Product Owner role.
  • Learn how the Product Owner forms the bridge between business goals and the technical team.
  • Understand how to combine leadership, business skills and technical know-how to be a successful Product Owner.
  • Strategies to ensure there is a strong connection between the priorities of the business and the work of the technical team.
  • Discover key concepts of why a self-organizing team is the best approach to delivering reliable, predictable business value.

PDU: 0.5 Technical, 1.0 Strategic.

Speaker Bio:
Angelo Firenze
Ever since studying Industrial Engineering in the early 1990s, Angelo Firenze has been a student of the principles which underlie Agile Software Development. Back then it was “Lean Manufacturing” that was the hot topic of the day. Lean Manufacturing ideas eventually evolved into what we now know as Agile and Scrum Software Development.

Today Angelo is the VP of Business Development for Ascendle, a contract software engineering firm headquartered in North Hampton, NH founded in 2012. Ascendle specializes in commercial-grade cloud and mobile app development, and has a vibrant Agile and Scrum coaching and training practice.

Prior to joining Ascendle, Angelo was putting lean principles to work in a more traditional manufacturing setting. Angelo founded and grew The Firenze Gelato Company. Conceived in 2001, this business eventually grew to become the largest regional producer of gelato in New England. The company assets were acquired in 2012 by Bindi USA, the North American subsidiary of Bindi S.p.A, a European multi-national.
