Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at the McLean Community Centre, 95 Magill Drive L1T 3K7. Doors open at 6:30pm, meeting from 7:00pm - 9:00pm.  Join us for an evening of celebration, Pizza, Beer, or Wine and a discussion of the 2017/2018 Chapter Operations and Activities. 

Registration includes dinner and one (1) drink ticket. (Additional drink tickets will be available for $4.00)

MAIN PRESENTATION TOPIC:  Procurement packages and their influence on planning, management and implementation of the various vivaNext BRT projects in York Region.

DESCRIPTION:  Procurement packages can significantly impact the project management of a project. Find out how York Region Rapid Transit Corporation’s (YRRTC) project planning, management, and implementation processes were adapted according to the different procurement packages.

Speaker Bio:   

PAUL MAY, P.Eng. Vice-President, Project Implementation

Paul May is Vice-President, Project Implementation for York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC).

Paul May is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, where he accomplished both his B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc. in Engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, a fellow of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, a past President of the Ontario Public Works Association (a chapter of the American Public Works Association) and named as a Top 10 Public Works Leader of the Year from the APWA in 2017.

Before joining the Regional Municipality of York, Paul was a Transportation Planning Engineer with a local consulting engineering firm for several years. Paul May had been employed by the Regional Municipality of York since 1988 before acquiring the position of Vice President, of Project Implementation for York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC) in 2009 - held for­ twenty-one years.

Before his current role, Paul May held the position of Director of Infrastructure Planning, responsible for the planning of all major roads, transit, water, and wastewater projects for the Regional Municipality of York. This role involved the development of the region’s infrastructure Master Plans, analysis of funding requirements, and coordination with other jurisdictions.

After joining the YRRTC in 2009, Paul May became Vice President, of Project Implementation for York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC). In his current role as VP, Project Implementation, Paul is responsible for a $1.75B Bus Rapid Transit program - charged with overseeing the design, construction, and all aspects of the implementation of the vivaNext Rapid Transit project in York Region. He was also accountable for the integration and coordination of transit facilities with the recently opened Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension.
