The primary purpose of the Project Management Professional (PMP)® and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® Certification Exam Preparation course is to prepare the student for the PMP®/CAPM® exam. The course provides an overview of the project life cycle, project management process groups, and the processes, tools and techniques of project management as described in the Project Management Institutes A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, (PMBOK® Guide) 6th Edition (2017).  

  • The course features 35 hours of in-class instruction with follow-up web-based learning opportunities including online discussion and sample PMP®/CAPM® exams.  These 35 hours address the prerequisite of 35 hours of project management education required to apply to write your PMP exam or the 23 hours of project management education required to apply to write your CAPM exam. 

In-class sessions include presentations, discussion, exercises and sample exam questions.

The course instructors are volunteer, certified Project Management Professionals (PMP)® from the Durham Highlands Chapter, each offering a session in their area of expertise.  Each student will receive a study kit published by Velociteach.  The kit includes Andy Crowe's Pass the PMP 6th Edition textbook, a course workbook, a quick reference guide, study flashcards and five CDs with a discussion about PMP Exam strategies.  Students also receive six months access to online practice exam questions.  The session is based on PMBoK Guide Sixth Edition and this Guide is the only requirement that a participant needs before class starts.  All other materials are provided.

The cost is $700 (plus taxes) for PMI-DHC members and $900 (plus taxes) for Non-members. (Please read our cancellation policy)

Note: In order to take advantage of our member rate, registrants must be a member of both PMI and PMI-DHC. To register for PMI, please visit https://membership.pmi.org/account. While registering with PMI, you can register with PMI-DHC at the same time. If you are already a PMI member and need to join PMI-DHC, use the 'add component' transaction in the PMI Members Area or contact the PMI Customer Service department at (610) 356-4600 option 8 and ask to be added to Durham Highlands (C214). Once this registration process is completed, you will be eligible to register for the reduced member rate after 48hrs.

Our Winter 2019 session starts on Saturday Jan. 19, 2019 and continues every Sat. - Jan. 26, Feb 2, 9, 23 and March 2nd, 2019. Each Saturday session starts at 8:30 am and ends no later than 4:30 pm at the Whitby Public Library.  Breakfast is included each Saturday morning.
