Topic: The Evolution of Data and Knowledge in Project Management

Description: In this era of Big Data, data repositories and data scientists how are Project Managers keeping up? Lessons Learned are far from being a new concept for individuals working in Project Management, yet it is a subject that most people still don’t grasp or utilize to its full potential. This is probably one of the topics that is discussed more than others in these forums. You would think by now that we would have gotten this nailed down!

During our presentation, we will look at evolution of the usage of Data and Knowledge on projects and how we’ve gotten to Today. This will include a discussion on the status of Lessons Learned in the project community and talk about the experiences that are still prevalent for practitioners. What is your experience with lessons learned and with project data as a whole?

We will discuss what would Lessons Learned look like in a perfect world and also discuss the impact of a new PMI®’s perspective on knowledge addressed with its new release of the PMBOK® Guide version 6, that might give us yet some hope for improvement.

PDUs: Strategic and Business Management 1.0, Technical 0.5
