PMI Leadership Meeting (PMI LIM) - Chicago, 2017

Chapter leaders have come from across the globe last week to the PMI Leadership Institute Meeting 2017 in Chicago, IL.  PMI Durham Highlands was present at the meeting joining over 1000+ attendees represented by 239 chapters from 50+ countries. Our board members have colloborated and engaged with chapter leaders to bring back insights and skills to help operate and sustain the values and vision of our chapter.

Title: Planning for a Mega-Program: Lessons from the Front Line
Speaker: Gary Rose


The Darlington Refurbishment Program is a 15 year, $12.8 Billion project to refurbish the 4 Darlington units.  The project was sanctioned in 2010 and commenced refurbishment of the first unit in October 2016.  The presenter will provide:

A brief overview of OPG and the Darlington Nuclear Station

  • An overview of the project and the economic value to Ontario
  • Discuss the approach, and key lessons learned, that OPG took to planning the project over a 5-year period that culminated with the approval of a 4-unit $12.8 Billion project estimate in November 2015.  This will include processes used for scoping, contracting, design, estimating, scheduling, risk, contingency, and cost management.
  • Provide an overview of the techniques that OPG is using to monitor and measure progress in the execution phase, and
  • Provide an overall status of the project and discuss work underway for the next phase of the project.

Winter PMP/CAPM Exam Prep

Tues. Jan. 20-March. 3 2018


The Durham Highlands PMP/CAPM® EXAM PREP class is designed to get you from aspiring PMP to PMP in 6 weeks. 

Note: The PMBOK 6th Ed. was released in Sept. 2017.  With that said, the exam will also be changing on March 26, 2018 to cover the PMBOK 6th Ed.  If you scheduled your exam before March 26th, you will be tested on the PMBOK 5th Ed. 
Our Winter 2018 session starts on Saturday Jan. 20, 2017 and continues every Sat. - Jan. 27, Feb. 3, 10, 24 and March 3rd. Each Saturday session starts at 8:30 am and ends no later than 4:30 pm at the Whitby Public Library.  Breakfast is included each Saturday morning.

The cost is $700 (plus taxes) for PMI-DHC members and $900 (plus taxes) for Non-members. (Please read our cancellation policy)
