Durham Region Eats is a Facebook group that acts as a resource for residents of Durham Region to learn about and support restaurants, caterers, bakeries, breweries, cideries and other food-related establishments in Durham. It is not a review site, but a resource where negativity and destructive inputs are not permitted. We will discuss how the idea for developing Durham Region Eats' Facebook group was launched and how basic project management principles can be applied to daily activities without even realizing it.

Today, Durham Region Eats sits at just under 39,000 members and in the past 4 weeks has accumulated close to 200,000 posts, comments and likes on the page.

Our presenter and facilitator, Eric Novak was recently given the Ajax Mayors Award in 2020 during the Ajax Pickering Board of Trade's Business Excellence Awards and is set to receive a Pickering Civic Award for Economic Development.

Eric Novak is the volunteer creator and main administrator of Durham Region Eats. He is President and Owner of Modern Media Perspectives, and is a part-time College Professor at Seneca College. Eric is a journalist, video producer, keynote speaker and consultant. He is the Editor in Chief of He currently contributes to the Toronto Star, and MoneySense and in the past has written for Today's Parent, Canadian Living, Canadian Family, Auto Trader Insights and more. His YouTube channel is among the top 4% globally in terms of overall views with almost 3.7 million views currently.

Photography & Filming: Photographs, audio, and video will  sometimes be captured during PMI-DHC events.
