"Serving our Project Management Community through our Chapter Board of Directors is beneficial in so many ways. Being a project manager is a challenging career and staying active as a contributing member of our community is an excellent way to continue finding joy and nurturing curiosity in our profession. Serving on the Board of Directors sharpens your focus to serving the needs of our chapter members. We stay in touch with current trends, engage educational and thought provoking speakers, establish excellent professional development opportunities, arrange networking and social events and so much more. It is incredibly satisfying to create connections between members and help our community on the hunt for the next job opportunity, to find a study buddy or just to explore the evolving profession together. Personally, serving on the board has enhanced my career as well. Experience serving on a board is a valuable and enriching opportunity that shows companies you have what it takes to work as a part of a team developing and executing on strategy, establishing and managing a budget and most of all, leading with passion." - Shannon Bell, Director Membership |

"I have been a long standing member of both PMI® and PMI-DHC for more than 23 years. I have always found value in their offerings but the day that I decided to join the Board of Directors and contribute in a deeper way is when I found a passion. I love to share with new members this passion for volunteering, growing a community of practice and in that same way project management as a profession. I would highly recommend that if you want to get that “spring” in your step and to see your work contributing to our community, there’s no place better than putting your hand up for a board of director seat. Don’t kid yourself, it can be work, but work that still to this day leaves me smiling and proud." - Sylvie Edwards, Vice President, Administration |

"I served on the PMI-DHC board for a total of six years as the Membership Director and also as VP Finance. Being a member of the PMI-DHC was nothing but an honour and a privilege. As a member of the PMI-DHC board, you get to work with like-minded individuals who plot the strategic direction of the organization with a membership of 1,400 Project Management Professionals. This is a valuable experience as the discussions and interactions with the other board members are a great source of learning. As a part of the PMI-DHC board, I have met other board members who have become friends, mentors, and professional colleagues and created a wider network for me. I was able to attend some valuable training sessions that otherwise I would not have been able to attend, to meet some dynamic persons whom I otherwise would not have met, be a part of an international organization that is charged with growing the Project Management profession within the DURHAM community and being able to travel and represent PMI-DHC at various events. I would strongly recommend that you take the leap and volunteer to serve on the PMI-DHC board as the experience will definitely positively change your life." - Delroy Trowers, Past VP Finance |
